Searching for her little brother Jed, who she hasn't seen in seven years, Rose Walker moves into a boarding house in Florida. The house is occupied by a strange mix of individuals, including the "Terrifyingly, apallingly normal" Barbie and Ken in the downstairs, Zelda and Chantal, creepy women who wear wedding dresses all the time across the hall, a weird recluse named Gilbert in the attic, and the split-personality landlord, Hal / Dolly. And then there's a raven that seems to hang around outside her window for no apparent reason.  Meanwhile, the nightmares that have escaped the dreaming in Morpheus' absence seem to have been up to some particularly diabolical misdeeds.
